Abby's Bra Consulting
Born and raise in Maryland, where I spent my childhood making clothes for my dolls and eventually designing and creating full garments for myself. I have always loved conceptualizing and building product with my hands. I earned two bachelor’s degrees at Virginia Commonwealth University, a BFA in Fashion design and a BA in Fashion Merchandising. With these two degrees, I was able to take on all aspects of the fashion industry.
After college I interned for a small swimwear designer in the Washington D.C. area. During this internship I had my toes in all aspect of the business; from print design, inventory control, photo shoot assistance, and running trade show booths. After 6 months at the internship, I started at Under Armour as a technical designer at the headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland.
I became an experienced Technical Designer/ Product Developer, during my 8 years at Under Armour. I worked my way up from entry level to senior level, working in three different office locations; Baltimore, New York City, and Hong Kong. I developed a niche knowledge on bra, underwear, swim, and seamless product development. Fitting and constructing garments in the NYC fashion district, and in Hong Kong; fitting directly with garment manufactures. Some of the highlights of my career have been; developing the Olympic beach volleyball uniforms and attending the Rio Olympic games, winning the Femmy award for the most innovated bra team in 2017, building the #3 grossing sports bra in all of North America in 2020, and having 3 fully funded relocation packages.
My knowledge with product development includes, but is not limited to Adobe Illustrator, Optitex pattern design, Microsoft Word, Draping, on site fittings, creating new processes and product standards, sizing research and development, market research and improving construction cost/ production efficiency.
I am available to provide bra, underwear, swim and seamless fit and construction consulting. Services include bra fit and construction crash course, garment fittings, tech pack building, technical sketch drawings and factory communication. Please reach out if you have any questions or would like to work together!
